This is a process of immigrants mastering the language, culture and social norms of a new country. Formally, integration is understood as passing exams. The procedure is described in detail on the website.
The word "Mandatory" here means that you must either integrate within the required timeframe, or you can get a fine, or even get deported.
Automatically only two categories of immigrants are obliged to integrate:
- refugees,
- partners of citizens of the Netherlands.
There are exceptions.
More information integration can be found here.
Exams are taken at the state authority which is called Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO).
You may choose by yourself where you prepare for exams (it can be any school or a private teacher or even self-learning at home). You may as well download training materials and exercises from the official website
More information about the costs of Integration can be found here.
You should pay for exams by yourself, but you may apply for a loan DUO. More about the loan can be found here.
You may request us to help you with filling-in the request for a loan.
It means obtaining a citizenship of another country at your discretion. The procedure and all the requirements and criteria are described on the official website of the migration authority of The Netherlands (IND).
For your convenience we have collected the key aspects here in this FAQ.

At the end of 2 years of work, you can apply for citizenship. If you live with a student’s residence permit for 5 years, then you can’t apply for citizenship.
